Duplicate Motor Vehicle Documents

You can apply for a duplicate registration/deregistration certificate or other relevant document if the chassis/VIN or engine number has changed, or if the original document was lost or destroyed.

The title holder must apply in person at the registering authority.

What you need

• ID.
• Proof of residential address.
• Ward councillor address confirmation where applicable for informal settlements.
• Complete the DRC and, where a document was lost, the DCT.
• Pay the prescribed fee.

Processing

Processing may take up to seven days. Confirm current fees with the licensing office.
